Harry Whitwell has signed his new three-year Albion contract, the club have confirmed.

Playmaker Whitwell, who turns 21 in November, was due to be out of contract next summer, which was a source of concern for a number of supporters who have seen the academy product break into the first-team set-up under James Morrison this season.

Whitwell’s new deal, a story which was first broken by Full Throstle, runs until the summer of 2029 and the announcement prior to the derby clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Sunday is a major fillip for the club.

“I’m over the moon to sign my new contract,” Whitwell said. “There’s been a lot of hard work to get to this point, so to get it over the line and commit my future to the club makes me very happy.
