In some ways, Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns resembled the pattern of the match and the outcome on the last occasion Charlton Athletic visited Albion.
Charlton come, they sit, intend to make things awkward and nick a goal against the run of play. That proved the death knell for Eric Ramsay’s ill-fated reign in February, the last time Albion were under the management of somebody other than James Morrison.
This week followed a similar theme. Albion were dominant, enjoyed far more shots on goal and yet were sucker punched with the Addicks’ only shot on target of the evening.
Clearly, that is where the similarities end.
