By the time you’re reading this, James Morrison and his Albion squad will mostly likely already be in the North East - and there they shall remain until Saturday night, as part of a decision made following their EFL Cup draw with Newcastle United which comes 60 hours before a meeting with Middlesbrough.

Albion head to Tyne and Tees with a rather skinny squad, the same 20 in fact which saw off Burnley comfortably enough on Sunday. Still there is no Aune Heggebø who is suspended, nor is there any immediate return in sight for the once again stricken Mikey Johnston, whose ankle issue has returned - though we are yet to learn the severity of this fresh concern.
