West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that they have loaned defender Alfie Gilchrist to Leyton Orient on a season-long loan deal.
Gilchrist only arrived at The Hawthorns last summer on a five-year deal from Premier League big-hitters Chelsea, having enjoyed previous Championship experience on a loan basis with Sheffield United.
Gilchrist returns to the capital for the forthcoming campaign, joining the O’s for the duration of the season which commenced this past weekend, in the hope of securing regular game-time which he would not be getting at Albion.
The defender, who joined as a right-back but who was also utilised as a centre back over the course of his first campaign with Albion, has been missing at times during pre-season and was left out of the match day squad entirely for the Carabao Cup win over Rotherham United on Saturday.
