There is a common theme which runs right the way through the answers to the question of how life has been like under James Morrison during pre-season if you are a West Bromwich Albion player - non-negotiable standards must be met.

This is a significant summer for Morrison for a multitude of reasons, not least of all that it is on the eve of his first campaign as a fully fledged manager, of the club where he has spent nigh on 20 years.

While there remains work to do on the recruitment front which the 40-year-old is having a say on, one thing Bilkul have been sure to do is back their newly appointed boss with his desired back-room staff; Matt Gill was secured on a permanent basis, while the highly-rated Gavin Strachan - who has been the subject of interest in a managerial capacity from around the EFL before now - has been lured from Celtic.
