Albion did themselves no disservice whatsoever on Wednesday night as they went toe to toe with Premier League Newcastle United but were eventually undone by a particularly familiar face.

Isaac Price’s free kick gave Albion the lead and, although former loanee Harvey Barnes nudged the Toon in front at the very beginning of the second half - having only just been introduced at the break - Price struck again in the closing stages with his second penalty in four days.

Barnes popped up again in the closing stages, afforded too much room in the box to convert past Matt Ingram, and so Albion had to accept defeat to their superior opponents, although it was yet another highly encouraging performance in the beginnings of this new season.
